OUR LABORATORY
From exploration
to possibility.
Understanding a world comes before using its resources. We begin with the surfaces of the Moon, Mars and asteroids, and connect planetary science with exploration technology, analogue materials, resource utilization and society.
Through mission data, experiments and numerical modelling, we work across science and engineering to develop the emerging field of space resource studies.
RESEARCH
New worlds.
Fundamental questions.
01 / EXPLORE
Read planetary landscapes
We investigate surface histories and environments through spacecraft images, landforms and granular processes.
02 / DEVELOP
Investigate space resources
Subsurface sensing, planetary simulants and rock-image analysis support the next steps in exploration and resource use.
03 / CONNECT
Connect science and society
We examine space resources through research, education and wider conversations about humanity’s future.
RESEARCH IN FOCUS
Touch the lunar surface.
Measure what lies beyond sight.
LDA measurement principles, experiments with simulants and thermal models of the surface: explore the work supporting future observations on the Moon.

SPACE RESOURCES & INNOVATION
An interdisciplinary
future for space resources.
Working alongside the University of Tokyo’s Center for Space Resources and Innovation (CSRI) and the SX R&D site, we connect expertise across universities, research institutions and industry.
